The Western Cape offers a wide range of walking opportunities - from half day hikes to two day and upwards walking trails. On Beaumont House's doorstep lies Table Mountain, with a wide variety of walks.

The National Park streches as far as Cape Point (see entry) and much of it is available for walking. Further afield lies Jonkershoek Valley (35 minutes) with a range of walks. Mountain bikes can also be hired. Three hours north of Cape Town lies the Cederberg Wilderness area - well worth a visit, not least for the stunning view of the night sky and the oportunity to visit South Africa's highest wine farm!
